World premiere! Østfold Dance Company for Youth perform their own works and Sandstorm by Carl André Johansson on Saturday 4.11.2023
Welcome to a rich dance performance with several different components! Østfold Dansekompani for Ungdom will present short works of their own in Ung Strekk – before they get ready for the highlight of the evening: Sandstorm by choreographer Carl André Johansson. In addition, guest performers Live Skullerud and Måns Erlandson will show excerpts from Beretninger om berøring!
Johansson’s choreography was commissioned by Dansekunst i Østfold and Østfold Internasjonale Teater

Choreographer and dancer Carl André Johansson is educated at Bårdar Akademiet, and has choreographed a number of performances in different formats and styles, including dance theater and musicals. This year he is working on HAV, an outdoor dance performance that has toured large parts of Eastern Norway, including Fredrikstad during the Tall Ships Race.
Johansson’s choreographies often combine dance, theater and music – which together create an intimate, physical and engaging expression. Johansson has received grants from Dansekunst i Østfold and the Norwegian Directorate of Culture, in addition to support for his performances. In 2020, he was in residence at ØIT to further develop new choreographic work.
At the initiative of DiØ, Johansson was part of the Creative LAB at CODA International Dance Festival in 2020-2021. With a desire to support the development of choreography as a professional discipline, Dansekunst i Østfold has initiated the local variant “Young dance talents meet young choreographers from Østfold”. Here, Johansson is the first choreographer to present this work.
NB! this performance is part of the Strekk dance festival. Participants 13-23 at the festival have free admission to the performance and do not need to buy a ticket, see the section below. Other audiences should book a ticket as usual.
