– reality strikes back
On Saturday, April 5, we invite you to our sixth KunstFest – an evening of high spirits, low shoulders, open bar and artistic surprises.
Saturday 5. April,18:00 – 24:00
Østfold Internasjonale Teater
Dokka 3a, Fredrikstad
Just outside Fredrikstad city center, on the site of the old Fredrikstad Mekaniske Verksted, lies ØIT. Here, once every six months, you can experience the fabulous KunstFest! The concept resembles something you might stumble upon in Berlin or New York, but now you can find it on Kråkerøy: The theatre uses all premises and invites artists from different disciplines to fill the house.
Bring old friends, make new ones, and experience the art you didn’t know was missing in your life!
Art and reality
What is reality, really – and what is the truth? The battle to control the narrative of our world is ongoing on various platforms.
KunstFest Vol. 6 steals its subtitle from duo Edy Poppy and Julian Blaue’s “Iggy- reality strikes back”. The performance is based on Poppy’s critically acclaimed book of the same title, published in 2024.
The evening will focus on art’s relation to reality, showcasing works by several local and international artists in different art genres. Everything plays out in a musical setting carefully orchestrated by Kool DJ KCFLY!
«The performance raises uncomfortable questions about identity, creativity and the choices we make – or are forced to make – in art and life. In a radical way, the aborted “Iggy” is reborn, not as a child, but as a work of art, an embodiment of all the ambivalence that comes with choosing art over a conventional life. No, this is not a flirtation with biological reproduction, but a flirtation with life, an exploration and a self-discovery.»
